The present work aims to analyze the political trajectory of Ana Maria Santos Rolemberg Côrtes, in the context of repression by the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship. Seeking to understand her participation in the struggle for the redemocratization of the country as a militant woman from Sergipe, inserted in a context marked by gender inequality. The women who joined left-wing organizations were considered by the agents of repression as ‘deviant’ from the established patriarchal conduct, where the woman should remain reclusive to the private space. Therefore, female participation in opposition te the regime represented a double transgression, making these women exposed to the most diverse types of sexual and gender violence. Ana Côrtes, ended up getting pregnant during the period in which she was in hiding and her arrest took place while she was in that condition, being a very troubled period full of violations. Her trajectory is also marked by her important participation in the Women’s Movement for Amnesty in Sergipe and in other political articulations.
