Efeitos da acupuntura em pacientes com fibromialgia: revisão sistemática

Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a syndrome charactterized by a musculoskeletal pain diffused at anatomical sites that lasts more than three months. It requires a biopsychosocial approach concomitantly with any other form of treatment, non- pharmacological treatments are often associated with drugs. It is in this context that acupuncture emerges as an ally, being enforced as a therapeutic modality in a wide variety of painful conditions. Objective: To describe the effects of acupuncture practice on patients with fibromyalgia through systematic review. Methodology: The researche was performed in the PUBMED and BVS databases (MEDLINE, LILACS, MOSAICO and IBECS). The assortment process was divided into phases, in which first read the titles of the articles, then the abstracts and, finally, the whole text. The initial research resulted in 436 studies, at the end were selected 09 studies for systematic review. Results: The present review discovered positive results in the treatment of fibromyalgia in all clinical trials, starting from the EVA and FIQ scales. Regarding the comparison between acupuncture versus simulated acupuncture, even though placebo treatment also had positive results, actual acupuncture results were more significant. Comparing acupuncture to a conventional treatment, most data imply an improvement in a short term. Conclusion: Acupuncture is a promising technique on the fibromyalgia treatment. The results of the studies indicate that it produces short-term therapeutic effects in fibromyalgic patients.
