RESONANCES OF THE DIVINE COMEDY IN ÁLVARES DE AZEVEDO’S WORK

Resumo: This article aims to show how A Divina comédia (2017), by Dante Alighieri, influenced Álvares de Azevedo’s work, romantic brazilian writer of the 19th century. In addition, some critics are approached who perceived this dantesque influence on the young poet like Monteiro (2000), Andrade (2011) and Lucchesi (2013). This research was motivated by the imperative need to present the relationship between the brazilian poet and the Comedy, as it almost went unnoticed by the literary critic; therefore, it shows how the dantesque work gave meaning to the azevedian work, in order to better understand unexplored aspects of  same.  It was found, by means of a quantitative survey, that, in the integral azevedian work, the dantesque resonances range from references to the name of the florentine poet, to dantesque characters, to the plots of the songs and to direct quotes from verses.

Ademais, abordam-se alguns críticos que perceberam esta influência dantesca no jovem poeta como Monteiro (2000), Andrade (2011) e Lucchesi (2013). Esta pesquisa foi motivada pela necessidade imperiosa de apresentar a relação entre o poeta brasileiro e a Comédia, pois quase passou despercebidamente pela crítica literária; por isso, mostra como a obra dantesca conferiu significado à obra azevediana, a fim de se compreender melhor aspectos inexplorados da mesma.
