UMA VISÃO SOCIOLINGUÍSTICA DO OBJETO DIRETO ANAFÓRICO: O CONDICIONAMENTO DA VARIÁVEL ESCOLARIDADE

This article analyzes the variable use of a spoken language portuguese phenomenon, the anaphoric resumption of the third person direct object, based on the Variationist Theory (or Quantitative Sociolinguistics). There are four possible strategies for anaphoric recovery of the direct object: a) the accusative clitic; b) the lexical pronoun; c) the null object or empty category; d) the anaphoric noun phrase. For the development of the research, the corpus used comes from real speech data of forty-eight Soteropolitan informants extracted from interviews from the PEPP database - Programa de Estudos sobre Português Falado em Salvador and from eighteen informants from NURC - Projeto Norma Urbana Culta, being analyzed the three levels of schooling (elementary, middle and higher) of the informants. The objective was defined as understanding the effect of schooling on the choice of variant among the interviewees. With the analysis of the data, it was noticed that the clitics are increasingly suffering in Brazilian Portuguese, the lexical pronouns, even being socially stigmatized, and the anaphoric noun phrase are more used than the clitics recommended by the grammatical tradition. The null object, on the other hand, demonstrates a preference in the anaphoric resumption of the investigated informants, demonstrating that this variant is not fought by the school.
