Resumo: RESUMO: O ensino da matemática vem sofrendo grandes alterações, nos últimos anos, decorrentes das dificuldades observadas, como apontam os índices de avaliações externas e internas. Diante desse panorama, este trabalho apresenta uma breve pesquisa sobre o ensino da matemática no Brasil e procura identificar possíveis soluções. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Matemática. Modelagem matemática. Fracasso escolar.        ABSTRACT: Mathematics teaching has been having great alterations in the past years due to the observed difficulties as the indexes of external and internal evaluations point out. Before this scenario, this paper presents a brief research about Mathematics teaching in Brazil and tries to identify possible solutions. KEYWORDS: Mathematics. Mathematical modeling.
