THE CONTERCULTURE CLUES IN MÁRIO JORGE’S POETRY

ABSTRACT: The present work seeks to identify marks left by the Sergipe poet Mário Jorge in his poetry that characterized his poetic work with traces of the counterculture movement, since it is possible, through open interpretation, to detect clues in the verses of the poems that bring characteristics of the movement, directly or indirectly. In order to achieve it, the studies by Humberto Eco (2005) about the limits of interpretation and overinterpretation will be taken as a basis for this work, considering the need to unravel the meanings of the text from the information left by the text itself, and the theory of deconstruction elaborated by Jacques Derrida (2002), since the displacement of the center opens space for the study of new ways of making poetry. Furthermore, the studies developed by Maciel (1973) regarding counterculture issues will contribute to this work, when considering the relevance of understanding the countercultural movement so that it is possible to identify these traits in the poetry of Mário Jorge.
