Resumo: RESUMO: Este trabalho visa discutir as contribuições da abordagem da Multimodalidade no ensino de língua inglesa na educação pública no contexto brasileiro e a contribuição do livro didático nesse processo de mediação. Para tanto, recorremos às contribuições de Kress (2010); Kress e Bezemer (2008) para observar a paisagem semiótica dos textos, mais especificamente os textos materializados nos livros didáticos. Para discussão, são trazidas algumas considerações sobre a inserção do livro didático no contexto nacional bem como sua paisagem semiótica e as possibilidades que o uso dessa ferramenta pode trazer para o desenvolvimento da linguagem como prática social por meio do engajamento em diferentes gêneros textuais e diferentes estilos de comunicação. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Abordagem Multimodal. Ensino. To do so, we use the contributions of Kress (2010), Kress and Bezemer (2008) to observe the semiotic landscape of texts, more specifically texts materialized in the textbooks. For discussion, we bring some considerations about the insertion of the textbook in the national context besides its semiotic landscape and the possibilities that the use of this tool brings to the development of language as social practices through the engagement in the different textual genres and different styles of communication.
