OS DIVERSOS SENTIDOS DO VERBO “TOMAR”: UMA QUESTÃO DE PISTAS E CENAS PARTILHADAS: THE DIFFERENT MEANINGS OF THE VERB “TO TAKE”: A MATTER OF SKIING AND SHARED SCENES

RESUMO: Este estudo tem por objetivo explanar alguns dos fenômenos cognitivos que atingem o signo linguístico “tomar” e cooperam para variabilidade de seus sentidos. Tal abordagem ancora-se nos pressupostos da Hipótese Sóciocognitiva da Linguagem, nos termos de Salomão (1997) e Miranda (2001), a partir de duas premissas basilares, quais sejam: o princípio da insuficiência do significante linguístico e o princípio do partilhamento das ações da linguagem, bem como no sistema conceptual metafórico (LAKOFF; JOHNSON, 2002) como suporte explicativo e descritivo. A partir desses recortes, realizamos uma breve revisitação teórica acerca dos estudos que utilizam o verbo “tomar” como objeto de estudo e, por meio da reflexão teórico-analítica, descrevendo-o sintática e semanticamente, bem como sua função de verbo-suporte (NEVES, 2000; SILVA, 2009; PANTE, 2012). Nessa discussão, destaca-se o papel da polissemia e da metáfora conceptual na constituição dos sentidos e a função desta última na ordenação de categorias linguísticas. Metáfora conceptual.   ABSTRACT: This study aims to explain some of the cognitive process that affects the linguistic sign “to take” and cooperate to variability of their meanings. Our explanatory and descriptive support is founded in the Sociocognitive Language Hypothesis, by Salomão (1997) and Miranda (2001) and their two basic premises, called: the principle of the insufficient linguistic significant and the principle of sharing of the language’s actions. So, we used the metaphorical conceptual system (LAKOFF; JOHNSON, 2002). From these elements, we realize a brief theoretical revisitation about researches that using the verb “to take” as an object of study. Also, we describe the verb “to take” syntactically, semantically and his support-verb functions, through critical and analytical reflection (NEVES, 2000; SILVA, 2009; PANTE, 2012). Finally, we detach the importance of the polysemy and conceptual metaphor in the constitution of the meanings and the metaphor functions in the ordering of linguistic categories.
