Summary: | This article intends to do a general presentation of the Brazilian romantic Álvares de Azevedo’s (1831-1852) lyrical poetry, emphasizing its themes, motives, topics and commonplaces, whether those of romantic novelty and originality or those picked on the vast classical tradition of literature. At the end, the eight sonnets bequeathed by the poet are commented and briefly analyzed, aiming an interpretation that embraces the binomia used by Azevedo himself on the division of his lyrical work. |
