Floristic composition of Serra da Fumaça, Northern Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil

Resumo: | The main objective of the present work was to carry out a floristic inventory of angiosperm species of the Serra da Fumaça, municipality of Pindobaçu, to increase knowledge of the flora and distribution patterns of species present in the northern Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil. To this aim, expeditions were carried out in the study area for a period of two years, in addition to a survey in the HUNEB and HUEFS herbaria. The fertile specimens were collected and processed following the usual botanical methods. Herborized material was identified and incorporated into HUNEB. A total of 217 species belonging to 52 botanical families were recorded, with an endemism index of 43.32% for Brazilian species, and 6.9% for Bahia. Rubiaceae, Orchidaceae, Fabaceae, Melastomataceae, Asteraceae, and Euphorbiaceae are among the most representative families in the study area, while the predominant type of habit was the herbaceous. The data presented here may support management plans with the purpose of conservation and preservation in the area, which is considered of extreme biological importance. |

Por lo tanto, fueron realizadas expediciones en el área de estudio por un periodo de dos años, además de levantamiento en banco de datos de los herbarios HUNEB y HUEFS. Los especímenes fértiles fueron colectados y procesados siguiendo los métodos usuales en botánica. El material herborizado fue identificado e incorporado al herbario HUNEB. Fueron registradas 217 especies, pertenecientes a 52 familias botánicas, con el registro de una taxa de endemismo de 43.32% para especies brasileras para Bahia. Rubiaceae, Orchidaceae, Melastomataceae, Asteraceae y Euphorbiaceae están entre las familias más más representativas en el área de estudio, mientras que el tipo de hábito predominante fue el herbáceo. Los datos aquí presentados podrán subsidiar planes de manejo con el objetivo de la conservación y preservación del área, considerada de extrema importancia biológica.O presente trabalho teve como principal objetivo realizar o levantamento florístico de espécies de angiospermas da Serra da Fumaça, município de Pindobaçu, para ampliar o conhecimento da flora e dos padrões de distribuição de espécies presentes no norte da Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brasil. Para tanto, foram realizadas expedições na área de estudo por um período de dois anos, além de levantamento no banco de dados dos herbários HUNEB e HUEFS. Os espécimes férteis foram coletados e processados seguindo os métodos usuais da botânica. O material herborizado foi identificado e incorporado ao HUNEB. Foram registradas 217 espécies, pertencentes a 52 famílias botânicas, com ocorrência de uma taxa de endemismo de 43,32% para espécies brasileiras e 6,9% para a Bahia. Rubiaceae, Orchidaceae, Fabaceae, Melastomataceae, Asteraceae e Euphorbiaceae estão entre as famílias mais representativas na área de estudo, enquanto o tipo de hábito predominante foi o herbáceo.
