Contributions of the YouTube to the teaching of bryophytes: An evaluation of video lessons, with suggestions for content producers

Resumo: Contents about Botany have been worked in several media, especially in video lessons available on YouTube. They seek to make knowledge in the area more attractive, in addition to motivating and assisting students in the teaching process. Thus, this work evaluated the contents of bryophytes intended for basic teaching in video lessons found on the YouTube platform with regard to the reliability of the information presented. Using keywords, associated with inclusion or exclusion criteria in the search, 32 videos were viewed, of which 11 were selected and evaluated based on the perspective of textbooks and specialized bibliographies. The analysis revealed a lack of important information, such as ecological, economic and classification aspects, the latter being the most outdated. However, morphological characteristics of mosses and reproductive characteristics in bryophytes, in general, were very well worked on by the authors, since they are common data in textbooks. In this sense, the present study contributes in a pioneering way in orienting the producers of contents, specifically bryophytes, encouraging botanists to participate more and more in the elaboration of audiovisual didactic resources.

Estas buscan convertir el conocimiento en el área más atractivo, además de motivar y ayudar a los estudiantes en el proceso de aprendizaje. Así, este trabajo evaluó los contenidos sobre briófitos destinados al aprendizaje básico en video clases encontradas en la plataforma YouTube con relación a la confiabilidad de las informaciones presentadas. Utilizando palabras claves, asociadas a criterios de inclusión o exclusión en la búsqueda, fueron visualizados 32 videos didácticos, de los cuales 11 fueron seleccionados y evaluados con base en la perspectiva de libros didácticos y bibliografías especializadas. Se reveló la falta de informaciones importantes, como aspectos ecológicos, económicos y de clasificación, siendo este el más desactualizado. Sin embargo, características morfológicas de musgos y reproductivos de briófitos en general fueron muy bien trabajadas por los autores, ya que son datos comunes en libros didácticos. En este sentido, el presente estudio contribuye de forma pionera en la orientación a los productores de contenidos, específicamente briófitos, incentivando que botánicos participen cada vez más en la elaboración de recursos didácticos audiovisuales.Conteúdos sobre Botânica têm sido trabalhados em diversas mídias, especialmente em videoaulas disponibilizadas no YouTube. Estas buscam tornar o conhecimento na área mais atrativo, além de motivar e auxiliar os estudantes no processo de ensino. Assim, este trabalho avaliou os conteúdos de briófitas destinados ao ensino básico em videoaulas encontradas na plataforma YouTube no que diz respeito à confiabilidade das informações apresentadas. Utilizando-se de palavras-chave, associadas a critérios de inclusão ou exclusão na busca, foram visualizados 32 vídeos didáticos, dos quais 11 foram selecionados e avaliados com base na perspectiva de livros didáticos e bibliografias especializadas. Revelou-se a carência de informações importantes, como aspectos ecológicos, econômicos e de classificação, sendo essa a mais desatualizada. No entanto, características morfológicas dos musgos e reprodutivas em briófitas em geral foram muito bem trabalhadas pelos autores, já que são dados comuns em livros didáticos.
