Seedling emergence of Gallesia integrifolia (Spreng.) Harms (Petiveriaceae) as a function of substrate and seed storage conditions

Resumo: | Gallesia integrifolia (Spreng.) Harms, known as pau-d’alho, occurs in several Brazilian states and little is known about seed germination of this species. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate the seedlings emergency of the species in different kinds of seeds storage and different substrates for sowing. Five storage periods (45, 60, 90, 120, and 365 days), four storage conditions (plastic and kraft paper bags placed in environmental temperature and humidity and cold chamber) and six substrate compositions (sand, vegetable soil, vermiculite, sand + vegetable soil, sand + vermiculite and vegetable soil + vermiculite) were tested. Vermiculite and the mixtures of vermiculite with sand and vegetable soil are the substrates that promoted the highest percentages of emergence. As for storage, the period factor depends on the conditions, with the highest emergence values obtained with storage in a plastic bag in a cold chamber for 120 days. |

Harms, conocida como pau-d'alho, se encuentra en varios estados de Brasil y se sabe poco sobre la germinación de sus semillas. Por lo tanto, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar la emergencia de plántulas de esta especie en función del almacenamiento de las semillas y de diferentes sustratos para la siembra. Se probaron cinco períodos de almacenamiento (45, 60, 90, 120 y 365 días), cuatro condiciones de almacenamiento (bolsas de plástico y papel Kraft colocadas a temperatura y humedad ambiente y en una cámara fría) y seis composiciones de sustrato (arena, tierra vegetal, vermiculita, arena + tierra vegetal, arena + vermiculita y tierra vegetal + vermiculita). La vermiculita y las mezclas de vermiculita con arena y tierra vegetal son los sustratos que promovieron mayores porcentajes de emergencia. En cuanto al almacenamiento, el factor tiempo depende de las condiciones, siendo los mayores valores de emergencia obtenidos con el almacenamiento en bolsas de plástico en cámara fría durante 120 días.Gallesia integrifolia (Spreng.) Harms, conhecida como pau-d’alho, ocorre em diversos estados brasileiros e pouco se sabe sobre a germinação de suas sementes. Assim, este trabalho objetivou avaliar a emergência de plântulas desta espécie em função do armazenamento das sementes e de diferentes substratos para a semeadura. Foram testados cinco períodos de armazenamento (45, 60, 90, 120 e 365 dias), quatro condições de armazenamento (sacos plásticos e de papel kraft colocados em temperatura e umidade ambiente e câmara fria) e seis composições de substrato (areia, terra vegetal, vermiculita, areia + terra vegetal, areia + vermiculita e terra vegetal + vermiculita). A vermiculita e as misturas de vermiculita com areia e terra vegetal são os substratos que promoveram maiores porcentagens de emergência.
