In Uruguay, there is almost no bibliography about the issue. In this article we present a general overview of the literature in Uruguay and internationally, found in the first phase of the study Making Adolescent Fatherhood Visible, conducted at the Department of Social Work of the University of the Republic, in Uruguay. The project questions the experiences of fatherhood of poor adolescent youths in Uruguay today. The article identifies some of the key points found in the current debate about the issue.

The article identifies some of the key points found in the current debate about the issue.La temática sobre el tema es   relativamente incipiente en la región, si se  compara con  los estudios destinados a la maternidad adolescente.   En Uruguay  es casi inexistente la bibliografía al respecto.   Pretendemos, en este artículo, delinear un panorama general de la literatura, nacional e internacional,  consultada en la primera fase de la investigación Visibilizando la Paternidad Adolescente,   desarrollada en el   Departamento de Trabajo Social   de la Universidad de la República – Uruguay.
