Resumo: | The purpose of this article is to present the theoretical implications and consequences of the concept of sustainable development, with an emphasis on the elucidation of differences in their understanding and use. Based on a bibliographic review, the paper first reviews Marx’s understanding about the relationship between man, nature and capitalism. It then presents Marxistapproaches that are critical of the concept of sustainable development, which, although commonly used, is ambiguous and the motive of considerable controversy. Finally, factors are present for a new approach to environmental issues considering the unsustainability inherent to the capitalist mode of production and the destruction that accompanies it. |

Marxist Criticism of (Un)sustainable DevelopmentA crítica marxista ao desenvolvimento (in)sustentávelThe purpose of this article is to present the theoretical implications and consequences of the concept of sustainable development, with an emphasis on the elucidation of differences in their understanding and use. Based on a bibliographic review, the paper first reviews Marx’s understanding about the relationship between man, nature and capitalism. It then presents Marxistapproaches that are critical of the concept of sustainable development, which, although commonly used, is ambiguous and the motive of considerable controversy. Finally, factors are present for a new approach to environmental issues considering the unsustainability inherent to the capitalist mode of production and the destruction that accompanies it.O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar as implicações teóricas e os desdobramentos da concepção de desenvolvimento sustentável, com ênfase na elucidação das diferenças na sua compreensão e utilização. Revista KatálysisRevista KatálysisRevista Katálysis2012-06-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/katalysis/article/view/S1414-4980201200010000510.1590/S1414-49802012000100005Revista Katálysis; Vol. 15 No. 1 (2012): Relações sociais, desenvolvimento e questões ambientais; 41-51Revista Katálysis; Vol. 15 Núm. 1 (2012): Relações sociais, desenvolvimento e questões ambientais; 41-51Revista Katálysis; v. 15 n. 1 (2012): Relações sociais, desenvolvimento e questões ambientais; 41-511982-02591414-4980reponame:Revista Katálysis (Online)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)instacron:UFSCporhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/katalysis/article/view/S1414-49802012000100005/22000Copyright (c) 2020 Rosana de Carvalho Martinelli Freitas, Camila Magalhães Nélsis, Letícia Soares Nunesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFreitas, Rosana de Carvalho MartinelliNélsis, Camila MagalhãesNunes, Letícia Soares2022-11-21T14:18:50Zoai:periodicos.ufsc.br:article/24895Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/katalysis/indexPUBhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/katalysis/oairevistakatalysis@gmail.com || kataly@cse.ufsc.br || revistakatalysis@hotmail.com1982-02591414-4980opendoar:2022-11-21T14:18:50Revista Katálysis (Online) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)false |
