Resumo: | We aim to know the performance of social workers in special education, having as a socio-occupational space the Specialized Pedagogical Support Center Professor Maria Marcelina da Silva located in the city of Russas in the state of Ceará. The nucleus is an institution made up of a multidisciplinary team focused on assisting students with learning difficulties. That said, we start from our experience as a social worker at this institution from September 2021 to the present day. Furthermore, we used the theoretical framework referring to special education in Brazil and Ceará, as well as the theoretical, methodological, ethical and political contributions regarding the performance of social workers in education. We conclude by stating that the Social Service acts in defense of the guarantee of the right to free, public, quality and inclusive education by providing social reception, guidance for families and articulation of the intersectoral network. |

O núcleo é uma instituição composta por equipe multiprofissional voltada para atender estudantes com dificuldade de aprendizagem. Dito isso, partimos da nossa experiência enquanto assistente social desta instituição desde setembro de 2021 até os dias atuais. Ademais, utilizamos o arcabouço teórico referente à educação especial no Brasil e no Ceará, bem como as contribuições teóricas, metodológicas, éticas e políticas referentes à atuação de assistentes sociais na educação.
