Racism, coloniality of power and paid domestic work in Brazil

This article aims to discuss the implications of the race dimension on paid domestic work in Brazil. Based onbibliographic and documental research and under a critical and dialectical theoretical- methodological matrix, the discussion ofrace will be approached as an expression of the coloniality of power. Beyond colonialism, the coloniality of power is situatedin the context of the reproduction of the capitalist system on a global scale, which demarcates the places and social relationsof power, command and subordination between subjects, peoples, ethnicities, nations and countries. There is a significantimpact of the racial dimension of this coloniality of power on the conditions of paid domestic work in this country. The historyof slow recognition of social and labor rights for this category of workers, as an inflection of the racial dimension, remainstoday, resulting in little access to labor rights and the social security protection system.
