Resumo: The article makes reference to the knowledge of the authors’ maternal grandmothers on the lunar triad and menstruation, on the transforming power of menstrual blood in the garden, and on the relationship between women and the gray ant (osokãti). The lunar triad is a principle used by women to define types of marriage; the narrative about menarche and the garden reveals practices of care that the girl must take during her first menstruation; and the association of the Tukano women with the gray ant, indicates the training of a skilled and hard-working woman. The research is based on a methodology of “listening to maternal grandmothers’ knowledge” that allows the understanding of relationships among first menstruation, advice and marriage.

La tríada lunar es un principio utilizado por las mujeres para definir tipos de matrimonio; la narración sobre la menarquia y la chagra revela prácticas de cuidado que debe tener la niña durante su primera menstruación; y la asociación de las mujeres Tukano Orientales con la hormiga gris, indica la formación de una mujer hábil y trabajadora. La investigación se basa en una metodología de “escuchar a los saberes de las abuelas maternas” que permite comprender las relaciones entre la primera menstruación, el consejo y el matrimonio.O artigo faz referência aos saberes das avós maternas dos autores sobre a tríade lunar e menstruação, sobre o poder transformador do sangue menstrual na roça, e sobre a relação entre as mulheres e a formiga cinzenta (osokãti). A tríade lunar é um princípio de uso feminino para definir tipos de casamento; a narrativa sobre menarca e roça revela práticas de cuidado que a moça deve ter na primeira menstruação; e a associação das mulheres Tukano Orientais à formiga cinzenta indica a formação da mulher hábil e trabalhadora.
