Resumo: This paper proposes an analysis of practices of police assistance to women victims of gender violence in four police stations of the State of Rio de Janeiro, two of them  specialized in assisting with this type of conflict, located in the state capital, and two others, not specialized, located in the countryside. The creation of the Specialized Police Assistance to Women in the mid 80s was the result of pressure from the feminist movement over the government in the political context of democratization of the country after the military dictatorship. We emphasize the existence, in the daily routine of the police stations, of the confrontation among different representations on the nature of this conflict, and we have tried to analyze, in a comparative way, how this fact affects the police practices observed, in order to verify if the specialized police stations present practices of conflict management which are differentiated and more suitable to the conceptions that have guided their creation as public policy of gender.

La creación de las Comisarías especializadas en la atención a la mujer, a mediados de los años 80, resultó de la presión que el movimiento feminista ejerció sobre el gobierno, en el contexto de la redemocratización política del país después de la dictadura militar. Destacamos en este artículo que en la vida cotidiana de la policía existe un enfrentamiento entre diferentes representaciones de este tipo de conflicto y tratamos de analizar, de modo comparativo, cómo este hecho se refleja en las prácticas policiales observadas, buscando verificar si las comisarías especializadas presentan prácticas diferenciadas de administración de conflictos y más adecuadas a las concepciones que orientaron su creación como política pública de género. Palabras clave: Género; Policía; Administración de conflictos.   Este trabalho propõe uma análise das práticas de atendimento policial às mulheres vítimas de violência de gênero em quatro delegacias do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, duas delas especializadas no atendimento a esse tipo de conflitos, localizadas na capital do Estado, e duas comuns, localizadas no interior. A criação das Delegacias Especializadas no Atendimento à Mulher, em meados dos anos 80, foi fruto das pressões do movimento feminista sobre o governo, no contexto político da redemocratização do país após a Ditadura Militar.
