Studies on the history of women in Portugal: major trends in the 21st century

Resumo: This essay provides a brief survey of the major trends of Portuguese historiography in the field of 19th and 20th century history of women and gender. In addition to problematizing the principal theoretical and methodological questions raised by this research field, the au! thor outlines a brief “history of the history” of its development in Portugal, and identifies the major themes that historians have been focusing on, pointing to the most recent contributions to the field. Keywords: women and gender´s history; history of 19th and 20th century; Portugal´s history.

Además de la problematización de las principales cuestiones teóricas y metodológicas que este campo de investigación plantea, se traza, de forma breve, la Historia de la historia de la evolución de los estudios en Portugal, así como las grandes líneas temáticas que han atraído la atención de los historiadores, quedando igualmente apuntadas las más recientes aportaciones a este dominio.  Palabras clave: historia de las mujeres y del género; historia de los siglos XIX y XX; Historia de Portugal.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1807-1384.2009v6n1p241 Neste estudo é feito um pequeno balanço das principais linhas de rumo da produção historiográfica portuguesa na área de estudos da história das mulheres e do género referentes aos séculos XIX e XX. Para além da problematização das principais questões teóricas e metodológicas que este campo de investigação levanta, é traçada, de uma forma breve, a “história da história” da evolução dos estudos em Portugal, bem como as grandes linhas temáticas que têm merecido a atenção dos historiadores, apontando-se as mais recentes contribuições.
