Enviromental education and the emergence of a sustainable culture in the globalization scenery

Resumo: | Since the ecologic dimension goes beyond the established frontiers, either among distinct kinds of knowledge or among the territorial country limits, it presents a total binding with the planet globalization processes, beyond the merely economic phenomena. Without any hierarchical pretension, this dimension can be interpreted as a vital question, interrelated with all the other dimensions and affecting all of us. It has no fixed boundaries. However, the globalization impacts diverge from a country or a region, to another. The ecologic dimension may consist in a mobilization factor to conform the planetary solidarity, to create a local/global symbiosis through its power of sharing among different persons, collectivities and contexts, actions with ethic and humanist principles towards a cross-boundary perspective. This proposition of study points to the possibility of developing a way of thinking that associates the emergent sustainability paradigm to the economic and social development, to the inherent contradictions of the globalization processes and to the Environment Education, contextualized in the social, political, ecologic and cultural becomings, inside the space/time, local/global relations. In a general perspective, the education has the essential function of propitiating the sustainable development of the transition societies, in which the hegemonic way of thinking is still that of an occidental, modern, progressive and monocultural society. |

Sin cualquier pretensión jerárquica, puede ser traducida como una cuestión vital, interrelacionada con todas las otras dimensiones y que nos afecta a todos. No posee territorios demarcados. Sin embargo, el impacto de la globalización diverge de un país a otro, de una región a otra. La cuestión ecológica puede ser un factor movilizador de la solidaridad planetaria, crea una simbiosis entre local/global por su poder de compartir con diferentes sujetos, colectividades y contextos, acciones con principios éticos y humanistas en una perspectiva que trasciende fronteras. Esta propuesta de estudio apunta a la posibilidad de desarrollar un pensamiento que asocie el paradigma emergente de la sostenibilidad al desarrollo económico y social, a las contradicciones inherentes a los procesos de globalización y a la Educación Ambiental, contextualizándolo en los desdoblamientos sociales, políticos, ecológicos y culturales, dentro de las relaciones espacio/tiempo, local/global. Desde un punto de vista general, la educación tiene una función esencial para propiciar el desarrollo de las sociedades en transición de manera sostenible, en las cuales el pensamiento hegemónico es todavía el de una sociedad occidental, moderna, progresista y unicultural.Como a dimensão ecológica extrapola as fronteiras estabelecidas, seja entre os saberes, seja entre os limites territoriais entre países, apresenta um vínculo total com os processos da globalização do planeta para além dos fenômenos meramente econômicos. Sem qualquer pretensa hierarquia, pode ser traduzida como uma questão vital, inter-relacionada com todas as outras dimensões e que diz respeito a todos nós. Não possui territórios demarcados. Entretanto, o impacto da globalização diverge de um país a outro, de uma região a outra. A questão ecológica pode ser um fator mobilizador da solidariedade planetária, cria uma simbiose entre local/global pelo seu poder de partilhar com diferentes sujeitos, coletivos e contextos, ações com princípios éticos e humanistas numa perspectiva que transcende fronteiras. Esta proposta de estudo desponta como possibilidade de desenvolver um pensamento que associe o paradigma emergente da sustentabilidade ao desenvolvimento econômico e social, às contradições inerentes aos processos de globalização e à Educação Ambiental, contextualizando-o nos devires sociais, políticos, ecológicos e culturais, dentro das relações espaço/tempo, local/global. A educação, de modo geral, tem uma função essencial para propiciar o desenvolvimento de modo sustentável das sociedades em transição, nas quais o pensamento hegemônico é de uma sociedade ocidental, moderna, progressista e monocultural.
