Stories on country life: female memories and cultural legacy

This article derives its context from studies on genre, historical memory and cultural legacy as well. It discusses some data related to the daily way of life including kitchen matters, all observed in the surrounding land road homes of Joinville. This town is located at the Northeast of Santa Catarina, a Southern State in Brazil. Due to the new approaches of the preservation of cultural legacies in relation to tourism and culture itself, there is the question about how the different country and townsmen still come to (re)-construct their reference and meanings, dealing with their dwelling/town lives – the ideal spot for inscribing other story telling, talking of “places of memory” and of some ‘make-it-yourself’ means. Thus, we problemize the subject matters, starting from the Oral History methodology and taking special interest in women’s memory, also in Joinville’s aspects of cultural patrimony, in this way contributing to the local historiography which conduces to reflections on the regional legacy of material and nonmaterial culture.
