To study the relationship between human beings and their environment is a difficult task. With the evolution of ever-accelerating species, human beings acquired many skills and met new scientific advances towards their benefit, but, however, they caused alarming environmental imbalances. In this context, a planetary crisis is observed, the transformation of nature was noted over time, even in the word itself, which went from nature to environment or landscape, thus losing its meaning. Due to these factors, it is essential the dialogue with the population as a way to search their perceptions, behavior and environmental attitudes. Based on socio-environmental issues, the objective of the study was to conduct interviews with residents of neighborhoods considered at risk of flooding and residents in areas outside the risk zone. The interviews used the techniques of semi-structured research and theoretical saturation. The study showed the need for environmental awareness by urban environments and that through it is possible to minimize or avoid disasters, but the concern for flooding only appears whether there are material or non-material losses.
