Sartre: a philosophy in defense of freedom and ethics

Resumo: This article aims to show the amplitude and derivations of freedom as a concept in Jean-Paul Sartre’s selected works (1905-1980). In this sense, utilizing bibliographic research, it investigates the conditions of possibility of such a concept as a basis for an ethical-moral commitment that translates itself into responsibility towards society. Is it possible to derive an ethical-moral commitment from freedom? Does Sartre's philosophy contemplate a humanist vision? Based on the central axis of its conceptions, understood as freedom, this philosophy presents itself as a praxis, a process of action and reflection in human history. Supporting the philosophy of engagement, Sartre emphasizes the importance of man indulging in practical action to widen the horizons of every free human being. For Sartre, freedom is the condition of man and is based on the attitude of commitment.

For Sartre, freedom is the condition of man and is based on the attitude of commitment.Este artículo pretende mostrar la amplitud y las derivaciones del concepto de libertad en Jean-Paul Sartre (1905-1980). En este sentido, viene a investigar, por medio del análisis bibliográfico, las condiciones de posibilidad de tal concepto como fundamento para un compromiso ético-moral que se traduzca en responsabilidad para con la sociedad. Es posible deducir un compromiso ético-moral a partir de la libertad? La filosofía de Sartre contempla una visión humanista? Tal filosofía, a partir del eje central de sus concepciones, entendido como libertad, se presenta como praxis, proceso de acción y reflexión en la historia humana. Sartre, en defensa de la filosofía del compromiso, enfatiza la importancia de que el hombre se entregue a la acción práctica para ensanchar los horizontes posibles de cada ser humano libre. Para Sartre, la libertad es la condición propia del hombre y se basa en la actitud de compromiso. Este artigo visa mostrar a amplitude e as derivações do conceito de liberdade em Jean-Paul Sartre (1905-1980). Nesse sentido, vem investigar, por meio de análise bibliográfica, as condições de possibilidade de tal conceito como fundamento para um compromisso ético-moral que se traduza em responsabilidade para com a sociedade. É possível deduzir um compromisso ético-moral a partir da liberdade? A filosofia de Sartre contempla uma visão humanista? Tal filosofia, a partir do eixo central de suas concepções, entendido como liberdade, apresenta-se como práxis, processo de ação e reflexão na história humana. Sartre, em defesa da filosofia do engajamento, enfatiza a importância de o homem se entregar à ação prática para alargar os horizontes possíveis de cada ser humano livre.
