Resumo: We attempted to determine the influence of various environmental variables, both biotic and abiotic, on the populational density of Donax hanleyanus. Fluctuations in the abundance of the bivalve on the sandy beach of Arroio Teixeira, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, were recorded throughout one year, relating them to 14 environment variables. The analyses were made using Pearson Correlations and Multiple Regression. The results obtained show that increase in the populational density has a positive correlation with the wave cycle and an inverse correlation with abundance of the gastropod Buccinanops duartei.

Ao longo de um ano registou-se as flutuações na abundância do bivalve na praia arenosa de Arroio Teixeira, Rio Grande do Sul, relacionando-as a 14 variáveis ambientais. As análises foram feitas através de correlações de Pearson e Regressão Múltipla.
