Resumo: Alchornea triplinervia produces rounded bivalve capsules, with two seeds of 4-5 mm diameter, surrounded by red aril, which are utilized as food by many bird species. In forest reserves of Maringá City, 20 bird species were registered as eating seeds of Alchornea triplinervia. The majority of species show generalist food habits and the behavior of ingesting the whole seed (seed and aril), acting as potential dispersers.
