Resumo: We studied the ratio existing among the megakaryocytic cells and the other tissue constituents of the spleen, in White New Zealand rabbits in the intra-uterine phase and in the after-birth period. We observed that the percentage of megakaryocytic cells was lower than thar of other splenic tissue constituents in the majority of the periods of study, with the exception of the 8-day-old new-borns that showed the same value (0,4667%) for these cells and the dense conjunctive tissue trabeculas. The same value (0,0667%) was also found for these cells in new-borns on the 12th day and in young animals on the 56th day. This morphometric technique also showed that splenic megakaryocytopoiesis reached its highest value (0,4667%) in new-borns on the 8th day, and its lowest value (0%) in fetuses on the 28th day of pregnancy and young animals on the 84th day.
