Resumo: | Fazenda do Carmo Municipal Natural Park (PNMFC) and Alberto Löfgren State Park (PEAL) protect native vegetation and springs in the urban environment of the city of São Paulo. These remnants of Atlantic Forest, which once occupied the municipality, can be used as reference ecosystems for ecological restoration projects. This work tested a protocol for prioritizing native tree species recommended for planting in ecological restoration projects based on the cataloged tree species in these two urban parks. A compilation of floristic lists produced in the parks and native forests around them was carried out (75 species for PEAL and 83 species for PNMFC). For each species, a bibliographic search of functional attributes was conducted to prioritize those capable of composing the ecosystem structure and/or triggering important ecological processes for self-sustainability. The functional attribute database was used in a protocol to rank the “framework species” for each conservation unit. The protocol was effective at selecting promising species for restoration projects, but its limiting factor is the availability of ecological information about the species. |
