Resumo: A preliminary study of the testate amoebae of the region of Porto Alegre/RS revealed the presence of Arcella discoides, Arcella nordestina, Arcella vulgaris, Arcella gibbosa, Difflugia lobostoma, Difflugia elegans e Difflugia corona. Our finds demand emendations of the diagnostic characteristics of several species.
