Resumo: We examine here the synesthetic associations between 16 terms for emotions and 10 color names. High school students answered to questionnaires asking them to assign one of the color names to each name of emotion. Concerning the assignment of affective meanings to color names, our data are in accordance with some previous data in the literature; in relation to the ranking of color names as a function of their affective relevance, we found a sequence which exhibits a significant correlation with the "universal" sequence of occurrence of color names in languages proposed by Berlin and Kay.

Estudantes de 1º Grau responderam a questionários solicitando que a cada nome de emoção fosse associado um nome de cor. Quanto às conotações afetivas atribuidas aos nomes de cor, nossos resultados apresentaram uma concordância com os de estudos anteriores.
