Resumo: This study reports on a morphometric and comparative evaluation carried out between canine and feline species and among different age groups. Testes and epididymides were obtained surgically and were processed for histology. HE-stained slides were analyzed morphometrically on a microscope coupled to an image analyzer system (Kontron Elektronik - Videoplan Zeiss). Transversal sections of seminiferous tubulus and epididymal ducts of each tesis and epididymis were measured respectively for the maximum and minimum diameter, area and height of the epihelium. Results show that adult animals had the highest measures in both the seminiferous tubules and in the epididymal ducts, the dogs' measures being always higher than those of the cats. The spermatogenic kinetic in seminiferous tubules and epididymal ducts in dogs occurs as a consequence of a physiological process of maturation. This spermatogenic kinetic also occurs in cats, but the morphometric technique alone does not prove to be an adequate method, being necessary also to carry out the morphological evaluation.

As lâminas coradas em HE foram analisadas morfometricamente em Microscópio acoplado ao sistema analisador de imagem da Kontron Elektronik - Videoplan Zeiss. Foram medidas 30 secções transversais de túbulos seminíferos e ductos epididimários para cada testículo e epidídimo, respectivamente, e analisados os parâmetros de diâmetro máximo e mínimo, área e altura do epitélio. Os resultados mostraram que os animais adultos apresentam as maiores medicas, tanto nos túbulos seminíferos como nos ductos epididimários, onde sempre as medidas dos cães se mostraram maiores do que a dos gatos. A cinética da espermatogênese em túbulos seminíferos e ductos epididimários em cães ocorre em função de um processo fisiológico da maturação.
