Resumo: The Indian-Laurel Fig tree (Ficus microcarpa Linn.f.) is spreading over the human-made environments, and the present study aims to verify if the ingestion of its seeds by a neotropical bird (Turdus rufiventris Vieillot) influences the germination. It was observed that ingested seeds germinated faster, and in greater quantity, than non-ingested ones. These data showed that this exotic fig tree is adapted to dispersion by neotropical birds.

As sementes ingeridas germinaram mais rapidamente, e em maior quantidade, que as sementes não-ingeridas.
