UNVEILING THE ACTIONS OF NURSES IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE GROUPS

Resumo: ABSTRACT The aim was to know the health promotion actions developed by nurses in the collective services of primary health care in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Exploratory, descriptive, qualitative study. The participants were ten nurses working in primary health care groups in the year 2012. Semi-structured interviews were used for data collection and the data were analyzed through thematic analysis and discussed in the light of health promotion. Five categories emerged: Nursing education and development of the health promotion group; Duties of the nurse in the group; Methodology of the group; Issue included in the groups and Results of the group. A total of 1,363 collective services were identified, with 247 being related to health education activities. The focus of activities in the groups was based on chronic diseases, did not follow specific methodology and the themes were constructed according to the pathophysiology of diseases or professional specificity. The importance is highlighted of health promotion through educational practices in the collective services, as a form of care and encouragement for the autonomy of the individual/community.
