Resumo: The article focuses on the books that the actor Paulo Autran and the actress Fernanda Montenegro produced about their trajectories and careers in the form of photobiographies and also in the Autran archive. It makes use of a comparative device supported by the objectification work of the interpreters' experience materialized in these sources. It aims to advance the reflection on the marks of genre and generation, the narrative flow, the mechanisms of memory - what is selected, what is excluded, what is kept - and its relationship with the construction of the artistic name in theater. The discussion of the methodological challenges involved in this procedure also aims to deepen the analysis of the social and institutional conditions for the production of written and visual sources, as well as the reminiscences that nourish most of the interviews and printed (or collected directly) testimonies that we, social scientists, we use to apprehend the trajectories of the agents and the dynamics of the artistic fields.
