Exploratory study on the use of the word “metacognition” in papers published in brazilian journals from 2007 to 2017 on science and mathematics teaching area

Resumo: This article presents an exploratory study about the use of the word “metacognition” in papers published in Science and Mathematics Teaching Brazilian journals of stratum A1 and A2 of CAPES, from 2007 to 2017. The corpus of the research was constituted of 430 papers that were analysed by the procedures of Content Analysis. Two interpretative movements were carried out: the first focused on the general intentionality of the article, exploring the contexts in which the word metacognition was used, systematized in six emerging categories: Learning Process; Metacognitive process; Teacher training; Evaluation Instrument; Learning Object and Learning Environment; the second focused on the meanings of the word metacognition presented in the articles, from which thirteen categories emerged: Metacognitive Process; Metacognitive strategy; Metacognitive Ability; Metacognitive Character; Metacognitive thinking; Learning; Metacognitive Knowledge; Teacher Metacognition; Self-regulation; Awareness raising; Metacognitive Competence; Metacognitive Model and Metacognitive Level. From these analyzes resulted what we call the „general diagram?, which represents a synthesis of researches about metacognition published in Science and Mathematics Teaching Brazilian journals in the last 11 years.

O corpus da pesquisa foi constituído de 430 artigos que foram analisados mediante os procedimentos da Análise de Conteúdo. Foram realizados dois movimentos interpretativos: o primeiro focalizou a intencionalidade geral do artigo, explorando os contextos em que a palavra metacognição foi utilizada, sistematizadas nas seis categorias emergentes: Processo de Aprendizagem; Processo Metacognitivo; Formação de Professores; Instrumento de Avaliação; Objeto de Aprendizagem e Ambiente de Aprendizagem; o segundo buscou pelos significados da palavra metacognição apresentados nos artigos, em que emergiram treze categorias: Processo Metacognitivo; Estratégia Metacognitiva; Habilidade Metacognitiva; Caráter Metacognitivo; Pensamento Metacognitivo; Aprendizagem; Conhecimento Metacognitivo; Metacognição Docente; Autorregulação; Tomada de Consciência; Competência Metacognitiva; Modelo Metacognitivo e Nível Metacognitivo.
