Resumo: This article has by aim to show up to discussion records group's concepts found at the first Archival Science Manual, in order to point out the comprehension of age as to the record's concept, as well as to verify if there was other including documental genres, non textual, as integrant documents of the organics groups. From this theoretical and methodological basis on Archival Science, we have brought the comprehension of the record’s group taken from Brazilian Archival Law and the Brazilian Archival Terminology Dictionary to we analyze and show the audiovisual records’ archival profile. We have also approach some archive Europe concepts, once that the Archival Science disclosed in Brazil has Europe roots, in order to contextualize the discussion bringing about consistence to we can understanding that audiovisual records are records and that, consequently they take part of organic groups, being this profile supported by own archival law. It was necessary this shaping because to the fact of these records are constantly considered as collections or special records.

It was necessary this shaping because to the fact of these records are constantly considered as collections or special records.Este artigo tem por finalidade apresentar à discussão definições de arquivo encontradas nos primeiros manuais de arquivística, a fim de apontar a compreensão da época quanto ao conceito de arquivo, além de verificar se havia inclusões de outros gêneros documentais, que não textual, como documentos integrantes dos conjuntos orgânicos. A partir desses marcos teórico-metodológicos presentes na arquivologia, trouxemos o entendimento do conceito de arquivo, retirados da Legislação Arquivística Brasileira e do Dicionário Brasileiro de Terminologia Arquivística para analisarmos e detectarmos o perfil arquivístico de documentos audiovisuais. Abordamos os conceitos europeus de arquivo, uma vez que a arquivologia difundida no Brasil possui raízes europeias, com o propósito de contextualizar a discussão fornecendo consistência para que pudéssemos compreender que documentos audiovisuais são documentos de arquivo e que, consequentemente fazem parte de conjuntos orgânicos, sendo esse perfil amparado pela própria legislação arquivística.
