Digital newspaper accounts: considerations regarding the recovery of football information

It presents the newspaper as important source of information for historical research of a society. It addresses digital collections, environments that function as on-line newspaper archives as a possibility to access these documents more easily. It discusses how information retrieval should be improved to enable this information to be accessed in a user-friendly way and less dependent on the user's literacy. It points out that this recovery must consider linguistic and sociocultural variations, as well as the specificity of each knowledge domain. To this end, it exposes the importance of the newspaper for football, the shortcomings in the organization of this information in this domain of knowledge and presents the ontology as an efficient knowledge organization system to favor the digital collections of newspapers. By directing the ontologies to a domain, in this case football, the more specific it becomes, making the ambiguities of that context treated according to its real purposes.
