The book "Manual de Encadernação e Restauração para Livros e Documentos” (Guide to Binding and Restoration for Books and Documents) narrates the theoretical and practical experience acquired by the author, archivist and PhD Raone Somavilla, during her academic career. Graduated in Archival Sciences from the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (2005), she obtained her PhD in Biblioteconomy and Documentation from the Universidade de Salamanca, Espanha (2015), which was recognized by the Graduate Program in Information Science of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2016). Currently, she is an archivist at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. The book was released at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul on March 7, 2018 during the Freshman Reception Week at the Course of Archival Science in the Social and Human Sciences Center at UFSM. The author aimed to raise awareness about the work done at the Document Restoration Laboratory at UFSM and emphasizes activities carried out by the team. The aim is to share knowledge acquired with those who are interested in conservation and restoration.
