Resumo: Recently, a general concern has emerged with the occurrence of hearing loss caused by the handsets, which are used as pleasure, portable MP3 accessories has become almost indispensable in day-to-day. Currently, it is virtually impossible to get on buses, subway, in a classroom or work environment without encountering someone plugged in a headset. However, this habit is becoming widespread – especially among young people and teenagers – can cause hearing problems. Everything depends on the volume and time that you use the headset. Thus, the objective was to assess the level of intensity of sound that are submitted to users of these devices to see if there is a risk of hearing loss. We measured the sound level in an artificial head 25 using handheld devices. The results were compared with the exposure limits set by Decree 3.214/78 of the Ministry of Labour. The sound levels charged an average of <68 dB (A), with peaks that reached 120.7dB (A). The data indicated that most devices have a high risk of hearing loss, regardless of the music, the type of equipment in a volume greater than 50%.

The data indicated that most devices have a high risk of hearing loss, regardless of the music, the type of equipment in a volume greater than 50%.O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar o nível de intensidade de som a que estão submetidos os usuários de aparelhos reprodutores de MP3 (incluindo celulares) e verificar os riscos de perda auditiva.
