Resumo: | This article reflects on the perception of high school teachers regarding a Science, Technology and Society (STS) education and how it is applied in the classroom. Initially, considerations are made about the STS education movement and a brief survey of the educational method and teacher development in Brazil. Seeking to gather perceptions, a questionnaire was applied to 29 high school teachers from schools in Chapecó/SC and region. The analysis of the questions showed that the traditional teaching model may be ineffective for the integral formation of the individual. The results also showed great adherence of teachers in the use of integrative methodologies in the classroom; on the other hand, they showed weaknesses in teacher qualification. The study highlights that the STS approach can contribute to pedagogical practice, but requires changes, especially under the aspect of teacher development and working conditions of these professionals. |
