Mentors, fearless and critics teachers and the school mathematics toolbox

Resumo: This manuscript aimed, when analyzing the answers of a Mathematics teachers group from Paraná, participants in a workshop of the Training Program on Olympic Mathematics, to identify the beliefs and conceptions about school knowledge and school subjects, about the school and the schooling; about what it is to be a Mathematics teacher on Basic Education; and about the role played by the school Mathematics on the training of students in the contemporary society. Methodologically, the Discursive Textual Analysis was used to analyze the open questions and the Descriptive Statistics for the questions in Likert scale. Theoretically, it was based on studies about the notion of school discipline as disciplinary and didactic models, curriculum theories and teachers training. Among the conclusions, it is noted that the teachers conceptions are closer to a critical theoretical trend for the school and the school subjects and to a toolbox for school Mathematics.

Metodologicamente utilizou-se a Análise Textual Discursiva para analisar as questões abertas e a Estatística Descritiva para as questões em escala de Likert. Teoricamente, fundamentou-se em estudos sobre a noção de disciplina escolar como modelos disciplinar e didático, teorias do currículo e formação de professores.
