Resumo: This article aims to discuss how the author of Classic Iris, a School Anthology of the nineteenth century, dialogues, in the preamble of this work, with his interlocutors and, by taking an evaluative positioning, marks his presence. Choices such as this constituted the Portuguese classes in the second half of the nineteenth century, when they began to be adopted in the Portuguese programs of the Imperial College of Pedro II - one of them was Iris Classic, used between the years of 1860 and 1869. With this research, we could comprehend how school studies of the vernacular were developed, moreover, it is also a way to see which values about language are present in the book, and how they are announced by the introductory preamble gender in the management phase of the curriculum subject of Portuguese. We used Bakhtin’s Circle as our theoretical and methodological framework (BAKHTIN, 2010, 2013; MEDVIÉDEV, 2012), as well as Haidar (2008) and Razzini (2000, 2002, 2010). The results obtained show that the dialogue, within the genre, takes place between the author and: the State, the Emperor, the school, the student, and teacher; and also some theoretical currents of the contemporary, the intellectuals. For each interlocutor, the author has an evaluative positioning, marking his presence.
