The effects of the lack, excess and strangeness in the discourses about the Portuguese language

Resumo: In this research based on the studies of the Discourse Analysis, we propose to analyze how students from a Language and Literature Course of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG) move their discourses over the Portuguese language. The corpus has been collected for nine years, always on the first day of class, when they were invited to write about why they chose to study Language and Literature in the University. Through this theme, the ideological issue, the power relations, and the senses effect present therein are observed by triggering three key concepts studied by Ernst (2011): the lack, the excess and the strangeness. Therefore, from the marks left in the discourses of those university students as well as from their identifications with certain discourse formations, gestures of interpretation are mobilized. Such will allow us to analyze the ways of saying and not-saying about/in the language and, ultimately, how the sense effects in those specific discourses are produced.

El corpus fue recopilado en un periodo de nueve años, siempre en el primer día de clase de los académicos, cuando se les pidió escribir por qué eligieron para asistir a Letras. Por medio de este tema, la cuestión ideológica, las relaciones de fuerza y los efectos de sentido presentes en esos dichos, serán observados accionando tres conceptos clave estudiados por Ernst (2011): la falta, el exceso y extrañamiento. De ese modo, a partir de las marcas dejadas en los discursos de los universitarios y de sus identificaciones con determinadas formaciones discursivas, serán movilizados gestos de interpretación que nos permitirán analizar las maneras de decir y no decir acerca de/en la lengua, o sea, como son producidos los efectos de sentidos en esos discursos específicos.Nesta pesquisa, ancorada nos estudos do Discurso de linha francesa, propomos analisar como os alunos da licenciatura em Letras, da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG), mobilizam seus discursos sobre a Língua Portuguesa. O corpus foi recolhido num período de nove anos, sempre no primeiro dia de aula dos acadêmicos, quando os mesmos foram convidados a escrever sobre o motivo de terem escolhido cursar Letras. Através desse tema, a questão ideológica, as relações de força e os efeitos de sentido presentes nesses dizeres serão observados acionando três conceitos-chave estudados por Ernst (2011): a falta, o excesso e o estranhamento.
