On the palatal nasal of the base and the words ending in -inho

Resumo: This study concerns Portuguese non derived words which have a nasal consonant like tamanho, medonho, aranha, manha, and its derived forms in -inho(a) – tama[i)]nho (~ tamaninho), medo[i)]nho (medoninho?), ma[i) ]nha (maninha?). It is advocated that in such contexts there is evidence about the palatal nasal information of base forms. The word ranho, which derived form ranho is not misinterpreted as the derived form raio of the word raio. We interpret, in the light of Wetzels (1997; 2000), the maintenance in derived words of nasal feature of the base as an evidence of the geminate nasal. We use software PRAAT, 5.3 version (BOERSMA and WEENINCK, 2013), to try to explain this phenomenon under the acoustic approach. The obtained results would reveal the relevancy of an experimental analysis with aim theoretical hypotheses to be tested.

Se considera en estos mismos contextos tener evidencias relativamente a la información de la nasal palatal de la base, como en el ejemplo del diminutivo de la palabra ranho, lo cual no se confunde con el diminutivo de raio. Se interpreta, por lo tanto, a la luz de Wetzels (1997; 2000), la permanencia del rasgo nasal en las palabras derivadas cuyas bases contienen ese fone como una evidencia de la nasal palatal geminada. Así, con la ayuda de lo software PRAAT, versión 5.3 (BOERSMA y WEENINCK, 2013) se intenta explicar esto fenómeno desde el punto de vista de la fonética acústica. Los resultados obtenidos señalan la importancia de un análisis experimental, para posibilitar la verificación de hipótesis teóricas.Este estudo concerne aos vocábulos não derivados do português que portam a soante palatal como tamanho, medonho, manha, e às suas formas derivadas em -inho(a) (cf. tama[i)]nho (~ tamaninho), medo[i)]nho (medoninho?), ma[i)]nha (maninha?)). Defende-se que em tais contextos existem evidências acerca da informação da nasal palatal da forma base, a exemplo do diminutivo de ranho, o qual não é confundido com o diminutivo de raio. Interpreta-se, pois, à luz de Wetzels (1997; 2000), a manutenção do traço nasal em vocábulos derivados, cujas formas base carregam esse fone, como uma evidência da nasal geminada. Utiliza-se o software PRAAT, versão 5.3 (BOERSMA e WEENINCK, 2013) para tentar explicar esse fenômeno sob o enfoque da fonética acústica.
