Cultural representations of Spanish speaking countries: a view of visual resources in the context of DE

Resumo: | In view of the relevance of the discussion on culture in Applied Linguistics, both in the field of mother tongue education as well as in foreign language teaching, we address the dialogue on the subject to the teaching of Spanish in Distance Education (DE). With an eye on the Spanish Language Program of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, in the DE mode, we aim to discuss the cultural representations of the Spanish-speaking countries in the images of the virtual environment of the Spanish Language I course. In accordance with the objective, we establish the following question: to what extent do the cultural representations in the analyzed images contribute to the deconstruction of reductionist and stereotyped conceptions about Spanish-speaking countries? The answer to this question comes from the analysis of the introductory images of the topics of the aforementioned course, based on theoretical bases of cultural studies, with special attention to the concepts of culture, identity and difference. |

Observando el Curso de Letras Español de la Universidad Federal de Santa Catarina, en la modalidad EaD, objetivamos discutir las representaciones culturales de los países hispanohablantes en las imágenes del Ambiente virtual de la asignatura Lengua Española I. Consonante al objetivo, asentamos la siguiente cuestión: ¿en qué medida las representaciones culturales en las imágenes analizadas contribuyen para la desconstrucción de concepciones reduccionistas y estereotipadas sobre los países hispanohablantes? La respuesta a esta cuestión procede del análisis de las imágenes introductorias de los tópicos de la asignatura citada, fundamentada en bases teóricas de estudios culturales, con especial atención a los conceptos de cultura, identidad y diferencia.Tendo em vista a relevância da discussão sobre cultura na Linguística Aplicada, tanto no âmbito do ensino de língua materna como de língua estrangeira, direcionamos o diálogo sobre o tema ao ensino de espanhol na Educação a distância (EaD). Com um olhar sobre o Curso de Letras Espanhol da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, na modalidade EaD, temos por objetivo discutir as representações culturais dos países hispano-falantes nas imagens do Ambiente Virtual da disciplina de Língua Espanhola I. Consoante ao objetivo, levantamos a seguinte questão: em que medida as representações culturais nas imagens analisadas contribuem para a desconstrução de concepções reducionistas e estereotipadas sobre os países hispano-falantes?
