Facets of Bolsonaro’s Guru: audiovisual representations of Olavo de Carvalho in YouTube and in The Garden of Afflictions

Resumo: In this article, we analyze the apparent incompatibility between the "quiet" and "benevolent" figure of Olavo de Carvalho,as presented in the documentary O Jardim das Aflições, and the "aggressive" image of the writer that has spread in recentyears. We will try to demonstrate that, in the opposition to what the critics of Olavo and the film claim, from the point ofview of their followers, there is no such incompatibility between the "two characters", but a complex continuity. To this end,we added to the analysis of the documentary an analysis of videos from its YouTube channel that revealed to us themultifaceted, but relatively coherent, character of a "father" and a "prophet"

Tentaremos demonstrar que, ao contrário do que afirmam os críticos de Olavo e do filme, do ponto de vista de seus seguidores, não há incompatibilidade entre os "dois personagens", mas uma complexa continuidade.
