Resumo: The article seeks to understand the objective conditions in what the Rede Nacional de Religiões Afro-Brasileiras e Saúde (Renafro Saúde) places itself in the Política Nacional de Saúde Integral da População Negra (PNSIPN). The article begins to conceptualize the religious activism as a historical and transcontinental activity. It problematizes the correlation between this activism and the issues and methods of the Social Sciences to understand the genesis of the afrorreligious activism. It deepens the issue demonstrating that the field known as “sociology of the African religions matrix” demands its own methodology different from the one used to study other forms of activism. The articles concludes that the African matrix religions changes the PNSIPN through its activism (Renafro Saúde) e for the introduction of a concept unrelated to the public health paradigm: afrocentricity.
