Resumo: During late Stalinism (1945-53), Soviet cinema, like the American one, produced several films conveying messages of governmental interest. Soviet propaganda appears in films such as Zagovor obrechennyh, 1950, despite (and perhaps with greater mastery) the work of director Mikhail Kalatozov. Through Marc Ferro's cinematographic socio-history, one can appreciate the construction of a discourse that legitimizes the new local socialist regimes, the conduct of the political struggle against Titoism and the passage from Eastern Europe to Western influence (now English, now German) for the Soviet (fulfilling the role of the old Russian pendulum), and the end of the liberal democratic experience, exchanged for that of popular democracy, with the defeat of the new American rival and his Marshall Plan in the region, replaced by COMECOM.
