The invention of the “chromosound”: challenges for the development of a possible language: Desafíos para el desarrollo de un posible lenguaje

Resumo: | This article describes the Chromossonium, the project of an interactive environment conceived to host performances of Chromossonia, a synesthetic language for performance and composition. Chromossonia is based in a theoretical particle named Chromossound, which unites sound and color in a non-hierarchical way, and with which we expect creators to be able to compose scored pieces to be staged and performed in the Chromossonium. Following a description of how these elements are conceived, and which are its theoretical demands, the paper discusses the many potential directions of research the project offers, and the promises it brings. Then we discuss the technical challenges we found in the process of its implementation, choosing to generate the Chromossound as the output of a neural network, according to some technical choices and a defined architecture. |

Chromossonia se basa en una partícula teórica llamada Chromossound, que une sonido y color de forma no jerárquica, y con la que esperamos que los creadores puedan componer piezas musicalizadas para ser escenificadas e interpretadas en el Chromossonium. Tras una descripción de cómo se conciben estos elementos y cuáles son sus demandas teóricas, el artículo analiza las muchas direcciones potenciales de investigación que ofrece el proyecto y las promesas que trae consigo. Luego discutimos los desafíos técnicos que encontramos en el proceso de su implementación, eligiendo generar el Chromossound como salida de una red neuronal, de acuerdo con algunas elecciones técnicas y una arquitectura definida.Cet article décrit le Chromossonium, le projet d'un environnement interactif conçu pour accueillir des performances de Chromossonia, un langage synesthésique pour la performance et la composition. Chromossonia est basé sur une particule théorique nommée Chromossound, qui unit le son et la couleur de manière non hiérarchique, et avec laquelle nous attendons des créateurs qu'ils soient capables de composer des pièces musicales qui seront mises en scène et interprétées dans le Chromossonium. Après une description de la manière dont ces éléments sont conçus et quelles sont leurs exigences théoriques, l'article discute des nombreuses directions potentielles de recherche qu'offre le projet et des promesses qu'il apporte. Nous discutons ensuite des défis techniques que nous avons rencontrés lors du processus de mise en œuvre, en choisissant de générer le Chromossound comme sortie d'un réseau neuronal, selon certains choix techniques et une architecture définie.Este artigo descreve o Chromossonium, projeto de ambiente interativo concebido para abrigar performances de Chromossonia, uma linguagem sinestésica para performance e composição. A Chromossonia baseia-se numa partícula teórica denominada Chromossom, que une som e cor de forma não hierárquica, e com a qual esperamos que criadores sejam capazes de compor peças partituradas para serem encenadas e executadas no Chromossonium. Após uma descrição de como esses elementos são concebidos e quais são suas demandas teóricas, o artigo discute as diversas direções potenciais de pesquisa que o projeto oferece e as promessas que ele traz.
