Linguistic variation in Paraná: vowels /e/ e /o/ in ALPR and ALIB/PR

One of the tasks of researchers in the study of linguistic variation is to verify whether socio-historical characteristics and geographic diversity are perceptible in the speech of the inhabitants. This objective is present in regional atlases and national atlases and, in this perspective, several dialectological works were undertaken and numerous regional atlases were published. Among them, the ALPR – Atlas Linguístico do Paraná, organized in two moments: the first by Aguilera, published in 1994, and the second, still unpublished, by Altino, in 2007, the result of a doctoral thesis. This article aims to discuss the data recorded in the phonetic of the two volumes of the Atlas Linguístico do Paraná, to compare them with the data recorded in the interviews of the Atlas Linguístico do Brasil - ALiB, also in the state in question, observing the speeches of men and women. interviewed and seeking to establish the degree of influence of the different ethnic groups present in the state in relation to the maintenance or elevation of the vowels /e/ e /o/. The aspects of colonization point to the possibility of linguistic diversity in the state.
