Resumo: Construction, as a symbolic pairing of form and meaning, is a theoretical entity that represents an abstract scheme capable of bringing together similarities between constructions of the same nature. From the perspective of Usage-Based Models, the Construction Grammar has served more to explore the argument structure of simple constructions. Little attention has been paid to complex constructions. In this article, we focus two processes of clause combination, treating them within two constructional schemes that organize hierarchical networks by multiple inheritance relationships: (i) [[[CONECT(ive)] CLAUSEI] CLAUSEJ]; (ii) [[ARG (ument)] [PRED (icate)]]. We seek to show that the first scheme can include diverse adverbial microconstructions, while the second one deals with the arrangement of complex argument constructions of varied argument nature. We argue that schema organization is based on analogization, which involves the extraction of formal / functional properties from a mutually reinforcing source, enabling the emergence of new constructional schemas and new abstract representations. Since property extraction is a continuous process, we assume that networks are constantly changing and reconfiguring. Thus, we highlight the appropriateness of the constructional approach to the treatment of complex constructions as well.

Thus, we highlight the appropriateness of the constructional approach to the treatment of complex constructions as well.
